STEMspot is a unique space that combines the excitement of a hands-on mini science museum with the comfort of a cozy café. Catering to children ages 0-8, we offer engaging STEM activities, parent-friendly co-working areas, and barista-made beverages. Our space is designed to inspire curiosity in kids while providing a supportive community for caregivers.

Job Summary:

The Shift Manager at STEMspot is responsible for overseeing the daily operations during their assigned shift, ensuring a safe, engaging, and smooth experience for all guests. They will lead the team, manage staff, and maintain the quality of our programs and services. In addition to problem-solving and addressing any on-site issues or conflicts, the Shift Manager will handle customer service inquiries and escalate any system-level concerns to the owner as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise staff during assigned shifts, providing guidance and support.
• Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the facility, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Address guest inquiries and concerns, providing excellent customer service.
• Manage staff schedules and delegate tasks to ensure operational efficiency.
• Implement and maintain programs and activities, ensuring high-quality instruction and engagement.
• Problem-solve and manage any conflicts or issues that arise on-site.
• Collaborate with upper management to report on shift operations and escalate system-level issues to the owner when necessary.
• Conduct staff training and communicate with owner about staff concerns/performance
• Ability to be a team player who can step up and help with any tasks in pursuit of creating a quality experience for the visitors

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

1. At least two years of experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a small business, family-oriented establishment, or café.
2. High School Diploma or equivalent; a degree in education, recreation management, or a related field is a plus.
3. Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Schedule: You can choose to be a weekday shift manager or weekend shift manager.  We can also discuss doing a mix if that works better for you as long as it is consistent.

Tuesday-Friday 8am-11am

Saturday 8:30am-1pm

Sunday 2:30pm-5:30pm

Hours: Managers are needed 8-15 hours a week to cover opening the café and our highest traffic, highest staff periods of business.

Pay: Starting at $17.50/hr and negotiable based on managerial and customer service background and experience.
